ALMAJIRI SYSTEM MUST BE REVIEW

WE ARE ALL BEGGERS IN A DIFFERENT WAY

Evening in my house, when a small boy of about 9, enters and make salutation, then he begs. The nature of his begging alarmed me and I beckoned him to repeat what he said, which eventually repeated exactly as "our teacher as us to come and beg for money". I enquired what is there teacher going to do with the money they differently contribute, the boy replied as they will use them to buy firewood and some food for the teachers' use in his house. The boy begs for 10 Naira only but he got 20, I glimpse the joy in his face when he got more than what he begs for.   My life could have been no different to that boy, when I happen to be at the same age with my mother and my younger ones, our Dad cannot meet the challenge then, then we became our own beggers and make our daily bread.
The Almajiri system of today is an abuse of children, and I believe there is no any conjunction between religion or seeking  knowledge according to Islam and today's' type of Almajiri where a small kids of under 9 roam the town to beg for what to eat, while his parents are just at the village enjoying their riches, and by doing so, they contribute 100% of there child's ruin life. It baffles me a lot to see a small boy doing errand sometime bear footed just to make a bread for the day, if not he will suffer with hunger and as a result of that, he can be affected health wise and other vulnerability. My life teaches me to be Kitty, because of the way in was brought up, though I was lucky I did not beg for what to eat, because in was a little hard work person. The Almajiri phenomenon is dominant in the Northern Nigeria, where we have parents neglecting there primary duties on there children and they will send them to many strange places no matter how small the children may be. 80% of these children are ending up deviated from the main purpose of there being in the Almajiri system. They end up joining the undesirable Elements of the society. Only 20% of the number of those who are sent to Almajiri schools are making it to get the Qur'anic knowledge, the remaining are just waste to the society. No doubt Islam enjoyed us to seek for knowledge, even if we are going to travel as far as 'China' the Holy Prophet, PBUH make such emphasis because of it importance, knowledge of course is power, but the way the handlers of Almajiri are doing there system is contrary to the teaching of Islam. So many issue to be address in this system, but how are going to meet the challenge, we are living in a country  where rule of law is absent.
Parents must shoulder there responsibility and stop the contributions of delinquencies of their children, a responsible solutions must be adopted to rescue these vulnerable children from becoming decaying.
Government should step in and create windows of opportunity to take care of this and I believe the government have the wherewithal to do that.
In a country where 75% are living below one dollar a day, how do we expect a good result  while we all agreed that rule of law is physically absent.
Corruption leads to self destruction both physically and spiritually, no any country in the world survived the cancer of corruption. Corruption is a big disease which kills slowly, because there are no rule of law.

Nigerians must stand and fight this pandemic that is now threatening our existence as a nation, I see a country where almost all the system have been shutdown, because of the corrupted few, millions will suffers. The ball is now in our court.
