WHEN ARROGANCE DISGUISES ITSELF AS INTELLIGENCE

There exists a peculiar form of intellectual arrogance in which an individual begins to perceive himself as the custodian of absolute knowledge —a self-appointed authority whose principal occupation is to interrogate everything, contradict everyone, and scrutinise every statement as though the universe had commissioned him to preside over the tribunal of human reasoning. Such behaviour is often mistaken for intelligence. It is not. Sometimes, it is merely egotism wearing the costume of intellectualism . There is nothing inherently wrong with asking questions. In fact, civilisation advances because courageous minds question assumptions, challenge dogmas, interrogate institutions, and demand evidence. But there is an enormous difference between intellectual inquiry and intellectual belligerence . A discerning mind asks questions because it seeks illumination.
