CORROSIVE NEWS NET

By Tahir Ibrahim Tahir  (Talban Bauchi) Reflecting on how the CNN coverage of the 2016 US presidential elections had woefully projected Hillary Clinton as the winner; I was forced to tread with caution, what the network's speculations and analysis was, in the just concluded US presidential elections. It wa so palpable that their analysts and news anchors were quite apprehensive and skeptical about their positions, with Joe Biden as a projected clear winner. The declaration of the results had 'sleepy Joe' bracing up to the marathon election, in the last lap of the race to the White House, that was badly in need of a 're-awakening'. At some point i was about genuflecting for the political machinations of Donald Trump, as he proved that he wasn't going to be 'Trumped' easily by Joe Biden as widely speculated; especially by CNN and co. Just so we are clear, I rooted for Hillary then, and also for Joe Biden recently. Suffice it to say that if you are a suppor...

THE BETTER NORTH EAST APPRECIATION TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

Image
Dear Sir. Appreciation is always a part of gratefulness shown upon a gesture. People goes to extra Level to append their  recognition. With due diligence, a doxology I write to show our gratitude to Mr. President for his foresight and huge favour given to us the people of the North East Nigeria. President Buhari came to power amidst a global recession, Nigeria's economy has shrunked to a verge of total collapse, with crude oil price diving down the margin below zero, to below $20 per barrel, a drained Foreign Reserve of not up to $20bn a total disaster to a mono economy like ours, a single line of revenue generation that poses danger to our sustainable development. PMB in his wisdom and resilience get to the roots of the problem, took them one after the other by formulating a strong revival team, that thrills to make Nigeria great. President Buhari tried his best to make things working  again and thus with fausity purse, he is making things possible for Nigeria. NORTHEAST DEVE...

BEYOND THE PINE: NIGERIA AT 60

Image
THE PINE Beyond the coniferous parameters lays hopes and dreams, the greatest journey that is full of amazing yet sad stories of a people that got to hug their destiny for reasons beyond their thoughts. It was an accidental marriege as perceived by some sections of the Republic. The federal Republic was made to satisfied a colonial insertiable quest for their industrial development and strengthening of their competition world and  economic growth. Africa was a Continent of abundance resources both Natural and humans, and so was the scrambled that was conceived in Berlin in 1884. Nigeria was captured by the British, a big area of landmass, vast with agile people and different derivable wealth to complement colonialism. Such was the reasons of the amalgamation per say, and the antagonist sees it beyond colonial dreams put a force minting of distinct cultures, ethics and ethos. Whatever the thoughts today Nigeria has come of age, 60 years of colonial independent and looking for beyond...

NIGERIA AT 60: DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

By  Tahir Ibrahim Tahir ( Talban Bauchi ) Way back in the late 80s and the early 90s, when the Nigeria Television Authority's (NTA) programme content was rich with educative and infotainment material, I was stuck to a particular theme song for a military parade that was aired regularly. I memorised it and still remember some of the very profound words and messages embedded in it. ..... "you laid your lives, for a truly just cause, Nigeria remembers you. We salute you, your courage we adore that Nigeria may be one, strong united sovereign states, Nigeria remembers you."  It was put together to celebrate the 15th January, Army remembrance day, and from then on, it aired on and on, on NTA. Thousands, of Nigerian soldiers have laid their lives for Nigeria to remain one. From the coup d'etat of 1966, to the civil war of 6th July, 1967 to 15th January, 1970, Nigerians have fought on. Various forms of conflicts like the Ife/Modakeke wars, the Tiv Jukun crises, the Fulani/Ber...

I'M A 40 YEARS OLD KID

I visited many places in my life,  some of which have an impressive luring at a gaze,  many of which are irritant and no one can pray to be at the same place again from the first visit. Experience thought us to be patient when pursuing an ornaments of life,  because life itself is just a school where we learn from cradle to grave,  but the citadel between the Vanguard is the painful pursuit which often humbles even the most naturally powerful in everything.  My life teaches me humbleness and modesty and humility and the struggle on which I fought by myself even when  I was very young baffles me a lot, some times its unbearable. My own mother is the centre of my experience,  when she teaches me of being myself and of course I do follow a the lesson as a child,  yet not fully grown,  I still learn from my mother.  We both learn from our different backgrounds as lads to our mothers we jus have to say a big "thanks"  to them. Growing up...

Recently,  the world over controversies that ensuing on the Almajiri Tsangaya Schools, the life and struggles of Almajiri and the recent debate on if the system should be scrap or retain is taking a hot direction. From the society where the said almajiri reside to the government that neglected to take responsibility to make life better to all.
