Dr. IBRAHIM TAHIR PhD (Cantab): 14 YEARS OF AN IRREPLACEABLE LOSS, AND AN UNFILLABLE VACUUM

Image
By   Tahir Ibrahim Tahir  (Talban Bauchi) In the 2007 former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration's constitutional conference, which was generally perceived as a thinly veiled attempt at a third term, Dr. Ibrahim Tahir Talban Bauchi late, was one of the delegates who vehemently stood against that agenda, and prevented a monarchical style of governance, where a dictator, under whatever pseudo-nomenclature, would hold onto power endlessly, till thy kingdom come.  That type of phenomenon has continued to haunt our democracy where those exiting power, indulge in a primitive attempt at governance from the sidelines, which has almost always derailed government policy and implementation. Dr. Tahir represented the Islamic Caliphate, as a delegate from the Sultanate, as his name was conspicuously missing from the delegates from Bauchi State. Dr Tahir's albatross was his intellect, oratory and aura that was enviable and intimidating. Abdullahi Yelwa, a journalist ...

CAN THE SUBSIDIES REMOVAL BE A GOOD START FOR PBAT PRESIDENCY?

Image
The first argument in PBAT's presidency is the total removal of Petroleum Subsidies. Already heated debates have started on whether the New President should just announce that in his inaugural speech, meanwhile knowing fully how wicked Nigerians are.  One day into the Presidency, petroleum Marketers started hoarding the products thereby willingly shutting down their filling Stations to have a chance of price hiking.  Fuel scarcity is not a new thing in Nigeria, for decades, Nigerians are acquainted with the hardship of fuel scarcity due to excessive and massive corruption in the Petroleum industry. For years, the only three refineries owned by the government are not functioning properly, which resulted in another corrupt business of importing PMS, AGO and other petroleum products to cushion the lives of the citizens. But the negativity of such activity plunges the Country that happens to be rich in crude oil into uncertainty in the petroleum supply to c...

HON. ENGR. ABDULLAHI SIRAJO JIBRIN: AN EMERGING LEADER.

Image
By Muwaffiq Fa'izu Saleh.  The 2023 elections are here and they came with a partially satisfying young talent amongst the Movers and Shakers of the polity more than any other political season since the advent of democracy in Nigeria. From the party leaders, delegates and aspirants/candidates in all the political parties. Though we (the youths) are far behind what we are aspiring for in youth participation, we are getting there by the day. Thanks to the "Not Too Young To Run Bill". It has made a positive impact on encouraging us to get involved. One of those talents is a young aspiring and promising, emerging leader in the person of Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sirajo Jibrin. Coming out from the famous Jibrin family and descendants of the famous Mallam Muhammad Mai Zanko. These lineages dated back to 300 years of greatness and impact on Humanitarian gestures, job creation for the teeming populace, educational services to the community (both Islamic and western), and t...
